How to Win Your Fantasy Football Draft in 2026

Every fantasy football league has one: the manager who seems to draft the right player every single round. It's not luck. It's a repeatable process. Here are the seven rules our AI co-manager follows on every draft it runs — and you can follow them too.

1. Anchor your first three rounds with positional scarcity, not name recognition

The top of your draft is about locking down players you won't find later. Elite running backs and wide receivers with 300+ projected touches are gone by round 4. Quarterbacks and tight ends usually aren't. Build your foundation at the positions where the talent cliff is steepest.

2. Know the ADP, then bet against it when you have conviction

Average Draft Position tells you what the room thinks. It doesn't tell you what's right. If you've identified a third-year wide receiver who just earned the target share, taking him a round early is not a "reach" — it's a steal that looks like a reach to everyone else.

3. Stack your quarterback with one of his pass catchers

QB stacks aren't just for DFS. When your QB throws a 40-yard TD, you score twice. The correlation works in the playoffs too — the weeks that decide your title.

4. Get one elite tight end OR punt the position entirely

The middle rounds at tight end are a graveyard. Either draft a top-five TE by round 4, or wait until round 12 and stream matchups.

5. Handcuff your RB1 only if the backup has standalone value

Handcuffs that sit on the bench all year are wasted roster spots. Target backups who get passing-down work or short-yardage carries even when the starter is healthy.

6. Your last three picks are lottery tickets, not plug-and-play

Don't draft a "safe" backup WR in round 14. Draft the rookie with a 20% chance of a breakout. Your bench is for upside, not depth charts.

7. Kicker and defense — dead last, and stream them all year

The math hasn't changed. A round-14 kicker will score within 15 points of the round-8 kicker by week 17.
