Connect Draft Guru to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok

Your favorite AI can discuss almost any player in sports. What it does not know by itself is the part that matters most to your decision: your roster, your scoring rules, your standings, your matchup and which players are actually available in your league.

The Draft Guru AI connector closes that gap. Connect ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok to Draft Guru, then ask questions in the AI app you already use. Draft Guru supplies current, league-specific fantasy data; your AI subscription handles the conversation.

Why connect your own AI?

Without a connection, an AI can give general fantasy advice. It may know that a player is talented, but it cannot see that your league awards six points for a passing touchdown, that you already start three receivers, or that the player it recommends is rostered by the manager you face this week.

With Draft Guru connected, the AI can look up your real leagues before answering. Depending on the question, it can read league settings, rosters, standings, this week's matchup, league-scored projections, player facts, stored news, past drafts, pending trades and waiver information. The tools are read-only. They cannot set a lineup, submit a claim, accept a trade or change your league.

That makes the connection useful for questions such as:

• Who should I start in this league's scoring?
• Where is my roster weakest compared with the rest of the league?
• Which available player best fits my lineup and upcoming matchup?
• Does this trade solve a real need, or only add another player at my deepest position?
• What changed since my draft, and which assumptions should I revisit?

First, bring ESPN into Draft Guru

The AI connector reads Draft Guru. It does not sign directly into ESPN. If your league is on ESPN, import it into Draft Guru first so your team, settings and league context are available.

1. Sign in to Draft Guru and choose Import a League.
2. Select ESPN.
3. For a public league, open the league on ESPN and paste its web address or league ID into Draft Guru. This path works on phone or desktop.
4. For a private league, use Chrome on a computer and install the free Draft Guru ESPN Connector. Sign in at ESPN, open the extension from the Chrome toolbar, and choose Connect to Draft Guru.
5. Pick the league, review the imported teams and settings, and finish the import.

Your ESPN league stays on ESPN. Draft Guru keeps a read-only mirror for advice. Make lineup moves, claims and trades on ESPN, then refresh the mirror when the league changes. Yahoo and Sleeper leagues can be imported through the same Draft Guru import screen.

Then copy your Draft Guru connector address

In Draft Guru, open Account Settings and expand Your AI Assistant. Copy the Draft Guru address shown there:

Paste that address into one of the supported AI apps below. During setup, the AI app sends you to Sign in with Draft Guru. Review the read-only permission, sign in to the Draft Guru account that owns your league, and press Allow. You can revoke the connection later from the same Account Settings card.

Set up ChatGPT

1. Use ChatGPT on the web. Open Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and enable Developer mode. In a managed workspace, an administrator may need to enable custom apps first.
2. Choose Create under Apps, name it Draft Guru and paste the connector address.
3. Ask ChatGPT to scan the tools, then complete Sign in with Draft Guru and press Allow.
4. In a chat, select or mention the Draft Guru app when you want it to pull fresh league data.

OpenAI currently makes custom-app features depend on your ChatGPT plan and workspace permissions. Eligible Pro accounts can use read-only MCP connections in Developer mode; Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces have their own administrator controls. Check OpenAI's current custom-app instructions if your menus differ.

Set up Claude

1. Open Claude or Claude Desktop and go to Settings → Connectors.
2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Draft Guru and paste the connector address.
3. Choose Connect, complete Sign in with Draft Guru and press Allow.
4. Enable Draft Guru from Search and tools when your conversation needs league data.

Anthropic currently offers custom remote connectors on Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. Team and Enterprise organizations may require an owner to add the connector. See Anthropic's connector guide for the latest availability.

Set up Gemini

1. On a computer, open gemini.google.com.
2. Open Settings → Connected Apps. On some accounts, Connected Apps sits under Personal Intelligence.
3. Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app and paste the connector address.
4. Choose Next, complete Sign in with Draft Guru and press Allow.
5. Type @ and select Draft Guru when you want Gemini to use it.

Google currently limits custom apps to eligible personal accounts in the United States, in English, for users 18 or older with Keep Activity on. Setup starts on the web; availability can vary by account and device. See Google's custom-app guide for current requirements.

Set up Grok

1. Go to grok.com/connectors.
2. Choose New Connector → Custom.
3. Name it Draft Guru, paste the connector address and continue.
4. Complete Sign in with Draft Guru and press Allow.

Your Draft Guru plan decides which sports the AI can read

The restriction is enforced by Draft Guru on every tool call. It does not rely on the AI app to remember your plan, and changing a prompt cannot bypass it.

If you have Pro Football and ask about an NBA league, Draft Guru does not quietly hand NBA data to the AI or downgrade it to generic league context. The connector refuses data outside the sports you paid for. If you upgrade to Elite, the same connection can read all six supported sports on its next request.

What your existing ChatGPT subscription changes

The connector does not replace ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Grok, and Draft Guru does not bill their conversation usage. You keep using the model, chat history, interface and limits included with your AI account. Draft Guru acts as a trusted, read-only source the assistant can call when it needs your fantasy context.

That separation is useful. You can choose the AI experience you prefer while Draft Guru remains the source of truth for league-specific fantasy information. You can also disconnect one provider without changing your ESPN import or your Draft Guru league.
